Crafting a vibrant visual identity and digital home for Sunday Runday LA

Introduction

Movement is medicine—it grounds us, connects us, and reminds us what it feels like to be fully alive.

That’s the soul that Sunday Runday LA, a local running community, brings to the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. I had the honor of helping the community translated that energy into a brand and website that makes it easy for anyone to find events, stay motivated, and connect with fellow runners.

The Challenge

Sunday Runday LA, a new run club in town, was gaining traction fast—but without a strong online presence, it lacked the identity and structure to match its momentum.

It began with a passionate founder and a dream—to make running accessible, authentic, and local. Sunday Runday LA was founded shortly before I moved to LA and became the first community that felt like home. So when Dom, the founder, approached me with the idea, I wanted to give this community a home just as it did for me.

💡 How might we design a bold, authentic brand and website that energizes the community, builds trust, and gets people excited to show up and run?

BRAND

To define the look and feel of the brand, I interviewed the founder of the run club to better understand the mission and values of the run club. Then, I created several logo ideas and three concept proposals to present to my client and see which one best resonated with the club’s identity.

Ideation

After presenting the three concepts to my client, we settled on a combination of the concepts for the final design.

Final Concept

I then developed a set of brand guidelines to assist my clients and other members on how to use the logo and colors to ensure accessibility and on-brand usage.

WEB DESIGN

After solidifying the brand, I created wireframes to map out the general layout of each key webpage.

Ideation

For the final site design, I focused on clear information hierarchy and color accessibility. My client shared which questions prospective members typically have, which informed my decision process for what information to prioritize.

Final Designs

To design for runners, you better put on your running shoes.

Being a member of the run club myself made all the difference when it came to bringing this project to life. I experienced first-hand the welcoming atmosphere, positive energy, and unique feeling of the run club—and the results are an embodiment of my lived experiences.

I learned the value of being able to take a vague idea and turn it into clarity: running a run club is no easy feat, so being able to alleviate stress for my client was truly an indescribable feeling.

Sundays are for running!
